A new Rock Band game was announced at the Spike Game of the Year Awards, YAY!
It's not Rock Band 3....oh....
Green Day Rock Band is coming. So far we've only been shown a teaser trailer, featuring digital versions of the band, rocking out to American Idiot.

It looks like this will be a full game, similar to The Beatles: Rock Band from last year. But there's always the chance that it will be an improved track pack, more along the lines of the AC/DC Track Pack. Or even a more robust, downloadable content pack (but I suspect not).
There have already been two sets of Green Day DLC available for Rock Band so no doubt those will be compatible with the new game. The game will be released in 2010 for 360, PS3 and Wii and the songs will also be fully exportable into Rock Band 1 & 2 (on 360 and PS3), which is good news.
