IGN has posted their follow up on how importing the songs from Guitar Hero: World Tour & Smash Hits into Guitar Hero 5 will work.
Unfortunately some of the most important details, how much this is going to cost and which songs will and will not be transferable wasn't yet revealed.
They seem to focus on the fact that downloaded songs will work and only mention that 'some' of the songs from the previous games, will copy over. Hopefully it's the majority of songs but it looks like we'll have to wait and see on that one.
When you load up Guitar Hero 5, you will be able to choose an option to import songs from other discs (on the PS3, 360 and Wii versions). Apparently the codes on the back of the Guitar Hero: World Tour and Smash Hits manuals is required to prove you own the game, so you won't be able to use the same copy of the game across multiple consoles. Once the songs have been imported you can delete individual songs.

Gametrailers also posted a video interview with Brian Bright, from the Guitar Hero team. There's not really any new info but he goes into some more specific details on a couple of the challenges and quickplay options, which is still interesting.
