Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Playstation 3 games of the year, Little Big Planet has sadly been recalled worldwide due to its soundtrack.
Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that copies of the game are currently being recalled from retailers due to the soundtrack featuring elements of the Arabic language and citing references from their religious text, the Qur'an.
The offending section of music is said to be found in the Singing Safari level. It is claimed that the level contains two quotes from the holy book. It has been posted on the Official Playstation Forum that the two quotes translated to english state "Every soul shall have the taste of death" and "All that is on Earth shall perish."
In their press release SCEE did not confirm that this was what the translation meant in English but did state it contained pasages from the Qur'an.
SCEE made this statement in their press release, "We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused." It ends by saying that "the company will confirm the new launch date shortly."
It has now been revealed that the game will ship out to the US the week of October 27th. But offending copies have still have made it to the public and will undoubtedly be an instant collectors item.
No news yet on the revised Australian release, The EB Games and Game websites still quote the release as 23/10/08, but it is unlikely to be available then.
